Best practice for status.json player counts (#6223)

Looking for a second pair of eyes before we tag a release. Environment: Ubuntu 22.04, 4 vCPU, 8GB RAM, MariaDB 10.11. We logged query times over 200ms on market browse during peak hour. Any safer pattern for rolling this out without wiping houses?

Consider feature-flagging it for premium only during the first week.
